First Topic:
From now on Wednesdays, during my lunch hour, I am working on writing my book. It's been about a year since the idea was conceived and it's time to start knuckling down and get the book written.
My co-paralegal/friend Zina is co-authoring the book and we are both resigned to sit together for the hour each and every Wednesday to make decisions, direct paths, review notes, update topics, knuckle down and be accountable to each other to get this project done.
The target group for the book has been decided, it's not going to be a text book for law school, we'll save that for another time. It's going to be a book for every day people....that's all I can say about it.
We sat in the conference room yesterday, shut the doors and got to work. We accomplished quite a bit too. We know what direction we are heading in. We have set some guidelines and long and short term goals. It's so fantastic having Zina do this with me, she is extremely knowledgable and she is well-known for following through with every project she starts....unlike me. I couldn't have picked a better person to work with. And finally, I can visualize an end in sight to the book that's been germinating in my heart and head for years.
Second Topic:
Capt's son, boy (age 8) and I are re-decorating his bedroom. He's into pirates. His room is paneled with a hard, tongue and groove, caramel colored pine. He has a white A-shaped ceiling. Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of making his room a pirate ship. Please help with ideas! I'm not a crafty person....well, not in that way.
Third Topic:
Oh man, my short term memory problem is acting up again....I'll get back to you on this.

Congratulations on the book progress! I didn't realize you were doing that. Tres cool! Having a partner in my business, I know what you mean. It's awesome when you can take your individual strengths and create something. I hope it's all you want it to be.
As for the room, well. The first thing that come to mind is color. Sounds like a white room. Is it? You said pirate theme and I can easily see that. Do you think he'd like blue walls, as in the sea? That panel - which I normally don't go for - sounds like it lends itself to conjuring images of the sides of a ship, as if his room were the inside of a ship. Maybe you need some portholes as either picture frames or even mirrors. I haven't had the pleasure of decorating a kid's room yet - but I've got fantasies! - so I could be way off the mark here.
I love your ideas! And I think I even have porthole mirrors somewhere in storage! I was thinking of red and white striped bed linens and a treasure chest for toys.
I believe you will find a home of your own very soon. It's a buyer's market in CT. And I'll come by and help you decorate!
I don't know how much you're willing to do for that theme, but here's a website to check out with some great Pirate Theme ideas.
And great going with the book! How exciting!
After you finish that room, can you come do mine in a fantasy castle / wizards & knights theme?
Geek *cough*....oops, did I say that out loud?
Sorry.
Is that what Mrs. Write would like as well? She seems more like a real girly-floral design type woman.
Or maybe compromising to a country-western motif? hee hee hee
No, I haven't read that book, but I will, thanks for the advise, I might just take you up on the emailing you ideas!
Have a great weekend with Chef!
Good for you on the book...kick the rest of us into high gear to "git er done"!
A real fisherman's net with buoys is always a good wall decor...or get an old full size boat secondhand and buzz it in half. Use the front half for the foot of the bed. This might work if his bed is a twin sized bed. Or use an old boat and have someone build a lid on it with hinges for a toy chest. Depends on how big the room is. A blue throw rug would be cool. You or someone can paint on the rug to make itlook like waves. Once I painted a jungle on the walls of my daughter's room. You could paint waves on one or two or all walls from the floor to about three feet up. That eliminates a lot that has to go on the walls. If you could figure out a way to hang a hammock in the room. I know, most party places have full sized palm trees. Don't forget to drop a pic on your blog of his room!
Great ideas Yellow Mama, thank you, I definately will post a pic when I'm done.
I wish you good luck too on your book! Thanks for the comment on my blog - and yes, his mama did wear combat boot, and there still in the closet!
Wow..a book! Very cool. All the best on the decorating. When Kel was 8 I decided to redo his room...9 years later and it's still not done, so no help from this quarter. Sorry.
oh yes, do play peek inside me weekly! Boyfriends count.
Best of luck on the book! Go! Tawanda!

Thanks
