To celebrate Labor Day, we decided to rent a canoe and paddle around Lake Pocotopaug, East Hampton, CT. The lake is pronounced 'poke-a-tee-pog' and, like all good lakes, has a few Indian legends behind it.
As we got closer to the lake I noticed white caps, which indicated that it was too windy outside for a canoe ride. I wasn't about to be all involved with a tipped over canoe, especially after just reading 'The Shack'.
So my husband suggested watching the boaters put their boats in the lake. "How uninteresting", I thought. But the kids seemed okay with that.
We sat at the boat docking beach and watched.
And yes, it was very entertaining, I imagine more so due to the wind factor.
I've never had the pleasure of having to un-hook a boat from a boat-trailer....or try to back up a truck with a trailor attached into a lake, but yes indeed they do make for funny scenes to watch.
How did you spend your Labor Day?

I have not read the shack and haven't heard of it before. I will have to add it to my reading list.
We spent labor day at home, puttering around getting little things done that needed to be done. Nothing exciting, but it was a nice day.
We took the motorhome down to Ocala to a.get it worked on, b. visit our Ocala kids and c. Russell and boys went to Florida/Hawaii football game. Then back home to rain and watching for hurricanes and such.
Long time since I've checked in...how is married life?
It's all been a blur actually. So glad you enjoyed some time with the family.
You're the 20-llth person to tell me I need to read The Shack. My sis has it and I'm going to borrow it from her when she finishes. Our pastor gave a copy to each staff member to read.
Labor Day - hmm three days ago. What did we do? Oh, yes, we had lunch on my sister's deck with them - lovely time. Then we kept the kiddoes for awhile so Kristen could study (she's taking 4 on line courses to become a paralegal eventually) - took them to a pool for a short time - very refreshing for them as I of course watched the babes. My husband's next to the last holiday before his retirement.
