Here's Where You See the Real Me.

Well, interneters (that’s what I’m calling y’all today) it’s time.

Time is here.

Here is the time.

Time to start packing for the big move.

HELP!!!! *screaming at the top of her lungs in a panic*

Ahem.

I don’t know what I’m doing. The last time I moved was 16 years ago and I didn’t very much stuff to move into this enormous house. I filled it up slowly as the years rolled by. Stuff, stuff and more stuff. Lots of stuff. Rooms filled with stuff.

So 16 years of accumulated junk is in dire need of being sorted, bubble wrapped, boxed, labeled, color coordinated, numbered with Roman numerals, Dewey decimal systemed, cross-referenced, entered into a spread sheet and moved.

Oh and in case you haven’t noticed, my OCD tendencies are kicking in BIG time.

So what I am asking you you lovely helpful interneters you, is for lots of moving advise.

I know you have some, so let me have it, all of it, the good, the bad, the ugly.....please. For I know not what I am doing.

Link away, comment away, search engine away, or just tell me it will all be okay. 'kay?

Much appreciation will be forthcoming when I calm down some.

Did I ever tell you how much I love you all? I do. Really.

I've moved a few times in the last 12 years and a couple to different states. My advice would be this - before you pack it, ask yourself this question...do I really want to put this in a box and throw it out later or do I want to throw it out now?

It saved so much room on the truck. Good luck with the move.

when we moved I did one room at a time and if I found something I wasn't sure about I moved it into another room to reevaluate later, then I was still getting a whole room done and that always makes things feel a whole lot better! and get GOOD boxes, they make it easier to pack into the truck if the boxes are the same size!

I like Nadine's advice of now vs. later. That's a goodie.

I'm not going to be much help b/c I lamed out and hired movers last time. It was the best thing I ever did. They even packed us up. It was expensive, but VERY worth it.

LOL! Just throw it all into boxes and tape them shut. I have no idea but at this point I would be SCARED to try and pack to move. We've been here for 15 years with 6 kids and 4 dogs. Lord have mercy when/if we ever do move!

Oh my goodness, I've moved so many times, I've got it down to a science.

#1 rule - use regulation packing boxes because they stack perfectly, and only wrap things in real packing paper. It's clean and doesn't leave newsprint on your items. Both boxes and paper are worth every dime you spend on them.

#2 - pack BY ROOM and label the boxes after you pack them

#3 rule - when moving the boxes into the new house, move them all into the garage, lined up so you can read the labels, and only bring in one box at a time to unpack. If possible, put the contents away where they will go, then flatten the box and get it out of the way.

These are the things that keep me sane when I'm moving. I can't stand tripping over debris and this helps keep it to a minimum.

When or if you have a yard sale, people will actually buy good moving boxes and paper.

Good luck. I'm excited for you.
