It's been fun having my parents over, they are leaving on Thursday. They have helped out a lot. Lots of laughs, lots of food. Jewish mothers and food....do I have to say more?
As of last Friday, my house is off the market. The way I figure it if it hasn't sold by now, it isn't going to sell until after the holidays. It's a huge 6 bedroom colonial, so only a large family would be interested in it, and since school has already started, parent's aren't going to want to switch schools now. And it is such a huge relief to not have to make sure the house is in showroom condition every single morning. The Pod Storage Unit is being removed this morning. That's going to save me $200 per month. All the junk that was in it has been mostly put in the garbage. I left my parents $20 for the the sanitation workers as a tip for the extra work.
I'm working on getting a home equity loan to do some home improvements and consolidate my debt.
From what I have been reading on other blogs, the market is really bad all over the county. Foreclosures are at a record high. My fellow home seller neighors have been lowering and lowering their house prices and starting to panic. As for me, I'm going to sit back, relax, and thank God for all my blessings. And I know that it will all work out, because it always does.

i agree. we're having to work out some faith issues re money as well. and how its all going to work out. even though i can't wrap my head around it - i know, somehow it's all gonna be ok. no worries. hakunnah matatah!
shalom!
you have a great attitude! it has been on the news up here in Canada about your housing market. Ours is still going up with stuff selling within a month at the latest! But regardless of markets trusting in the Lord is the best bet!
Mrs.Write and I also need to figure out what to do as concerns selling our place. The main reason for moving - the time-killing soul-crushing commute - still remains, And surprisingly enough, we had three showings this past weekend. But sadly, no offers. We'll have to either move down on the price or hold on until the market changes. In the meanwhile, we've resolved ourselves to staying and have done some redecorating. We'll start unpacking the stuff I never unpacked (in anticipation of moving) when we got married a year ago and maybe begin getting ready for the new baby.
Of course, we're hoping that by putting in this effort, we'll get an offer on the place the day after all the work is completed...
As soon as I pressed "publish" this morning, the loan guy called and said, "You're approved and you can close tomorrow". I immediately took my enormous Amex payment out of the mail. Talk about faithful! Everything is going to get paid off and I'll have extra money to do whatever with. The closing is at my house tomorrow after work.
Yup, everything does work out. I had no idea your market was sagging like that...ours is booming like crazy, especially here. Everyone says it's because of the winter Olympics coming in 2010..I don't know, but sure am tempted to sell and pocket some major profit...downgrade till after the Olympics, at which time the market will crash and I'll buy again. But hubby says no....the poohhead.
