Sauerbraten Story

Here's how it all went down:

First the wake up 4:00am; Perrier water, flavored with lemon.

Then take the meat out of the refrigerator, which has been marinating for 4 days. That gets browned and then goes in the pot.

Then something really bad happens. I'll show you later.

I start making the potato dumplings. Hope there are leftovers because if you ever wanted to gain substantial weight, you slice cold potato dumplings and fry them in bacon for breakfast. Hmmm, maybe I hope that there aren't any left after all.

After cooking all day in the pot, it's time to eat.

I made red cabbage during my lunch break. And South Beach salad.
My sister and friend, Matt did the dishes.

Thanks guys!
This was dessert. Big shout out to Capt's dad for the great idea, these cream puffs were a big hit!

And here's why I couldn't do the dishes:

Ouchieeeee. I burned my hand when I was browning the meat.

Hope you enjoyed sharing this experience with me.

Must push publish and sleep now. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

As someone who has eaten YNB's cooking a lot over the years (though not at all in the past 2 years - hey, what's up with that?), I am very jealous that I was not there for the eating of this new YNB Kitchen Venture.

I've had her homemade Matzo Ball Soup, her red cabbage, several different pies, turkey, duck, chicken, roasts, and... Man I am suddenly really hungry!

Thanks Dawn and Jerry! I was delicous. Funny thing is that I got a call when I got home from work saying that my house was being shown this morning and all I could think of was how my house was going to smell like cabbage.

Jerr, I had forgotten about the turducken fiasco! Turkey stuffed with a chicken and the chicken stuffed with a duck. I did not likey.

I'll have to have you and Mrs.Write over and do it all over again before BabyWrite's debut.

I wouldn't know that, having never tasted you...

I loved the turducken! I thought it came out great.

BabyWrite is coming soon, so call us to plan that dinner!

Ouch, sorry about the burn. Are you ok?
Glad it went well otherwise. Lovely table and lovelier guests. Good times all around.

Thank you Jerry for clearing that up! Capt reads this blog and I would have been in trouble.

You are supposed to hide the 'Simply Enjoy' box and make believe you flew to Paris to buy dessert [doh!].

My sister in law makes the best sauerbraten. When I was pregnant that was the only thing I craved!
Hope your hand feels better.
